Programs and Services

Prenatal Care

Nutrition education is so important because it can improve infant mortality rates. It’s important that parents know WIC is a nutrition program, and they can use WIC’s services early in a pregnancy and not just after their baby is born. Moms can come into our offices or call and make an appointment the same day to get information in real time 24/7. Besides providing same-day 5-star customer service, taking no longer than 90 minutes to pre-qualify a parent over the phone, WIC managers are mobile and can travel to any part of the Las Vegas Valley to see potential clients.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding Education

Do you know the ABC’s of breastfeeding? This program educates parents on the benefits of mother’s milk. Research has shown that breastfed babies have fewer colds and ear infections, nutrients in breast milk help build a baby’s brain and immune system and breastfeeding builds closer bonds between a mother, father and baby. This program also provides essential information on the variety of breast pumps available, how to store breast milk in storage bags, acquiring special-needs bottles and other transitional feeding tools available on the market.

Our counselors encourage and will show how dads can become involved in breastfeeding. Skin-to-skin contact helps baby and father bond through cuddles and hugs and can be done just before taking the baby to mom for breastfeeding. When mom is breastfeeding, dad can help her feel comfortable and relaxed, such as praising her for breastfeeding, taking care of other children so she will feel less pressure during breastfeeding and doing something special for her to make her feel proud.

Counselors will share tips to help mothers struggling with milk supply such as how to use heat and massage before pumping, using massage while pumping, using music to help your baby’s sucking, breathing techniques moms can use to feel more relaxed and much more. Our team of lactation experts can also advise parents on how to donate breast milk, proving pumping bags and instructions on how to store and send your milk to a donation center.
